Several claims and promises where made early 2010 in the lead up to version 6 about Big Commerce supporting Drop Shipping and multiple warehouses, but in the end it was scrapped because of time constraints.
There is still an active community following the progress and hopefully in the next release it will be done. The last official word was in June 2010 on the support forums.
We unfortunately did have to hold off on dropshipping for version 6. As per the disclaimer, features listed in the roadmap are never concrete and we just didn’t have the time to implement dropshipping to the high standard we had in mind when putting ideas together for version 6.
We could’ve patched together something but we instead opted to wait and build it how we want to in a future release.
I’ll be posting a sneak peek video of the features in version 6 on the blog shortly, though, and dropshipping is coming soon.
Thanks for understanding.

Ordoro
April 18, 2011
You can get the dropshipping and purchasing features on BigCommerce by using Ordoro (www.ordoro.com) order management software. Ordoro works well with BigCommerce. All the orders that are created in Bigcommerce (and Interspire) will automatically flow into Ordoro. In Ordoro, you can list all your suppliers, and with one click you can assign an order to any one of your suppliers. Ordoro automatically notifies your suppliers with the dropship request. And once the shipment is on its way, Ordoro also provides a way to update the tracking number, and to notify your customer. Here is a support article on how to do this http://bit.ly/gngfzk
